The 2nd Annual High Point Healthy For Good Expo is coming to Hartley YMCA on Saturday, February 24. High Point Chamber Members have a FREE VIP Area!
In celebration of American Heart Month, the American Heart Association will be hosting this FREE community event in partnership with Wake Forest Baptist Health as part of the Guilford Heart & Stroke Walk year-round community health initiative.
At the High Point Healthy For Good Expo, you and your family will have a chance to take a basketball shot to win a new car from Carolina Kia! Also, the first 100 kids that bring in a drawing of a healthy activity or food, will receive a free pass to Wet'n Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park!
You will be able to visit various stops and win prizes. All activities are FREE and include biometric health screenings from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Hands-Only CPR training, healthy cooking demonstrations by Chef N’gai with the Guilford Mobile Kitchen, the FAST warning signs of stroke, a kids’ physical activity area with D-UP, and exercise & community group demonstrations. There will also be a special VIP area for military and veterans.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and the second leading cause of death in Guilford County. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States and the third leading cause of death in Guilford County. Both heart disease and stroke are up to 80% preventable. Educating the public on the benefits of heart healthy lifestyle changes can make a huge difference in the culture of health of High Point.
