Join us for our 4th annual International Women’s Day Celebration slated for Wednesday, March 14th, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm! There will be diverse performances, food, and bring cash to support local women and vendors who will be sharing their crafts. The YWCA, High Point University’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program, members and organizations of the Social Justice Committee will host an International Women's Day event to celebrate women in High Point and across the globe. This year’s local celebrations goes along with the global theme, “Press for Progress”, providing an opportunity for our communities to join with millions across our globe to collectively reflect on the economic, political and social progress women have made both locally and globally and what we can do to continue to empower women of all diversities. The theme for this year also allows for a deeper reflection on the gender parity, along with movements like #MeToo and #TimesUp. We want to use this as an opportunity to uplift the women in our community who represent different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences with an inclusive celebration that recognizes their value and worth in our world and for High Point. High Point University’s Women and Gender Studies students will be displaying projects focused on global women’s movements and World Relief will be coordinating a Refugee Game of Life. The event will take place at the YWCA High Point, 155 W Westwood Avenue.
