The Latino Family Center of the YWCA of High Point is pleased to invite the community to their first Latino Festival in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. The Latino Festival will take place Sunday, October 7th 2-6pm in the YWCA parking lot (155 W. Westwood Ave). The Latino Festival will be the first of its kind in the city of High Point and will feature authentic Latin American food vendors, Latin American artisanal crafts, regional dance performances by Ballet Folklorico Mexican Tradition of Julio Ruiz and Ritmos Peruanos with live musical entertainment provided by Nivel Codiciado. The event is family friendly and admission is free. Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15th to October 15th, a period in which many Latin American countries celebrate their independence and we recognize the contributions and influences of the Hispanic/Latino population. Currently, an estimated nine thousand residents in High Point identify as Latino. The Latino Family Center offers services and leadership development for Latinos in the Greater High Point area, many of whom will be helping coordinate the Latino Festival.
