About
Business High Point - Chamber of Commerce recognizes that businesses in multiple industry sectors employ an aging workforce and struggle to locate the next generation of skilled talent. For this reason, we have become a leader in promoting and advancing Guilford Apprenticeship Partners (GAP) in High Point and across the Triad.
GAP provides an opportunity for rising high school seniors and recent graduates who pass rigorous academic and behavioral screening, to further their education while obtaining paid work experience. Upon completion of GAP, students are able to receive their associates degree and a journeyman’s certificate, graduate without debt, and have a well-paying job.
Over the past two years, GAP has worked to create a skilled workforce, specifically within advanced manufacturing. Having made great strides in that industry, GAP is launching a Service Technicians cohort this fall.
From a workforce perspective, GAP helps our members identify their future employees and leaders. From an education perspective, GAP is giving students an opportunity to receive free college, a paycheck and a full-time position post graduation.
GAP is made possible through the collaboration of 33 local businesses (and growing!), Guilford County Schools and Guilford Technical Community College.
