Custodian I
Posted: 06/15/2022The City of High Point's Parks & Recreation Department seeks to fill the Custodian I position at the Senior Center. Performs semi-skilled and manual work in the care and cleaning of any Recreation Facility; maintains cleaning equipment and supply inventory; setup and breakdown rooms for programs/events; does related work as required at the Senior Center.
Essential Tasks:- Dusts and/or polishes chairs, tables, shelves and other furniture or equipment;
- Washes windows, walls, and woodwork;
- Gathers and disposes of trash which requires lifting of heavy large trash cans with weights of 50 to 75 pounds;
- Cleans and supplies restrooms and kitchen daily;
- Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops, waxes and uses buffer on floors;
- Replaces light bulbs and performs minor maintenance tasks;
- Operates light automotive equipment, runs errands;
- Unlocks and opens, closes and locks buildings when instructed;
- Moves furniture and equipment and sets up tables and chairs in meeting rooms;
- Loads and unloads cleaning and polishing equipment and supplies;
- Assists in maintaining lawns and parking areas;
- Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.
Qualifications:- Formal education includes reading with completion of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. On-the-job training approximately 2 weeks. Previous work experience as a Custodian preferred.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
- Previous work experience as a Custodian preferred.
