Custodian I

The City of High Point's Parks & Recreation Department seeks to fill the Custodian I position at the Senior Center. Performs semi-skilled and manual work in the care and cleaning of any Recreation Facility; maintains cleaning equipment and supply inventory; setup and breakdown rooms for programs/events; does related work as required at the Senior Center.
 
Essential Tasks:

• Dusts and/or polishes chairs, tables, shelves and other furniture or equipment;
• Washes windows, walls, and woodwork;
• Gathers and disposes of trash which requires lifting of heavy large trash cans with weights of 50 to 75 pounds;
• Cleans and supplies restrooms and kitchen daily;
• Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops, waxes and uses buffer on floors;
• Replaces light bulbs and performs minor maintenance tasks;
• Operates light automotive equipment, runs errands;
• Unlocks and opens, closes and locks buildings when instructed;
• Moves furniture and equipment and sets up tables and chairs in meeting rooms;
• Loads and unloads cleaning and polishing equipment and supplies;
• Assists in maintaining lawns and parking areas;
• Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.

 
Qualifications:

• Formal education includes reading with completion of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  On-the-job training approximately 2 weeks.  Previous work experience as a Custodian preferred.

• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous work experience as a Custodian preferred.

Salary: $31,200.00 annually with benefits
