Museum Park Guide
Posted: 06/15/2022The City of High Point's Library/Museum Name seeks to fill weekend Museum Park Guide.
Essential Tasks:- Facilitates a variety of interpretive experiences including guided tours, casual interpretive dialogue, historic demonstrations, and hands-on activities;
- Communicates learned historical knowledge and skill in a manner which furthers the interpretive goals, philosophy and standards of the High point Museum;
- Creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for visitors by demonstrating common courtesy and sensitivity toward visitor needs and cultural differences;
- Supervises volunteer junior interpreters assisting with special activities or events;
- Assists with training of volunteer junior interpreters as needed;
- Records attendance statistics in keeping with standard Museum procedures;
- Performs light maintenance to ensure the daily cleanliness and safety of the historic structures and grounds for staff and visitors;
- Attends quarterly park staff meetings;
- Represents the Museum in a professional manner, including appearance;
- Enforces that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.
Qualifications- Formal Education
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be available to work flexible hours on the weekends.
- Must be able to work with all types of people.
- Must have a courteous and personable demeanor.
- Must have ability to learn historical information and manual skills as required in craft, trade, or other activities.
- Must be able to move among and within historical buildings on site.
- Must have a willingness to perform routine tasks with enthusiasm.
- Must be able to work with a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to work and understand alarm systems.
- Must wear reproduction period clothing provided by Museum while on duty;
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
- Previous interpretive experience working in a museum or living history setting.
- English and Spanish Language skills
Salary: $15.00 Hourly. No benefits
