Sanitation Worker

The City of High Point's Department/Division Name seeks to fill Sanitation Worker to Performs responsible un-skilled work in the collection of solid waste from residents and small businesses; does related work, as required.
 
Essential Tasks:
 
•Empties roll-out carts into hopper of rear-loader truck using the hydraulically powered tippers mounted on the back of truck.
•Steps and rides on mounted platform on the rear of truck as it moves from one location to another, using mounted grab handles to hold onto truck while in motion.
•Picks up bags, boxes, and bundles, not to exceed 50 pounds and places them into the hopper located in the rear of the truck.
•Aids equipment operator when backing by using hand signals and guiding equipment operator in congested areas
•Serves as a driver trainee as required, on non-cdl equipment.
•Assists in cleaning and general truck maintenance.
•Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
 
•High School Diploma or GED required
•Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
•Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
•Must be able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time in all weather    conditions.
 
Salary: $31,200.00 - $39,551.20/Annually. with benefits
