Several sharp minds work collectively to make HP365 a reality.
An initiative spearheaded by Business High Point - Chamber of Commerce, HP 365 aims to transform the “World’s Furnishings Capital of the World” into the “Silicon Valley of Furnishings.”
HP 365 will leverage the global leadership position of the region’s core industry to boost the local economy, while at the same time supporting the revitalization of the area.
In addition to the extensive recognition that High Point earns by hosting the largest furnishings trade show in the world, its leadership in the industry goes far beyond the scope of marketing and sales. In fact, over 50% of the all furniture and textiles made in the USA were produced in High Point and its surrounding area just a couple decades ago. Even though large-scale manufacturing has mostly moved overseas since the 1990’s, the vast “eco-system” of businesses supporting the furnishings industry has been rooted in this area for over 100 years. In the face of international competition, these suppliers, entrepreneurs and small businesses strive to redefine themselves and adapt to an ever-changing marketplace.
That is where HP 365 comes in. The initiative celebrates the region’s heritage while considering fundamental shifts in the way we live, shop and work. It embraces modern concepts of collaborative economy, innovation, “local-made”, original design, customization, re-emergence of artisanal craftsmanship, entrepreneurial ventures and small-scale manufacturing.
HP 365 will bring together a multitude of furnishings providers onto one single platform - product designers and engineers, craftsmen, finishers, photographers, logistics companies, professional services, and others - to stimulate the “cross-pollination” of ideas and techniques. This creative environment will provide year-round programming, access to cutting-edge technology and leverage shared resources.
Together, this community will be able to develop efficiencies traditionally only afforded by larger corporations. Empowered, this creative talent will have more means to continuously pursue innovation for the industry and subsequently, better serve the modern marketplace.
Furthermore, HP 365 will support job creation, attract younger talent to the area and ultimately, improve the quality of life for current residents and newcomers alike.
