Career Support for Veterans Transitioning Into Civilian Life

The High Point Veterans Initiative focuses on recruiting, engaging and supporting transitioning veterans and their families, and encouraging them to live, work and grow in High Point.

The High Point Veterans Initiative mission is to strategically serve transitioning veterans, professionally, personally and holistically, with the highest level of engagement. The program is a strategic partnership between Business High Point Chamber of Commerce, Visit High Point and Veterans Bridge Home (VBH), who coordinates the employment navigation, community engagement and veteran support services.

How we support transitioning veterans:

Community

Open Arms

The High Point Veterans Initiative takes a holistic approach to welcoming service members, veterans, and their families to High Point by connecting them not only to essential resources, but also to the fabric of the community. Veterans are supported across the social determinants of health—including employment, education, housing, healthcare, benefits, and social enrichment—while HPVI also creates pathways for veterans and their families to build relationships, engage in local life, and develop a lasting sense of belonging in High Point.

Employers

Open Opportunities

HPVI is building an Employer Alliance who have expressed a commitment to recruiting, retaining and engaging servicemembers, veterans and military families. We host local networking events and training sessions to educate and activate business owners, hiring managers and HR/Talent Acquisitions professionals about the value of military talent.

Individuals

Open Access

HPVI acts as a bridge between veterans and employers by connecting service members, veterans, and their families with job readiness resources and businesses that are actively hiring. We partner with the US Department of Labor Employment Navigator and Partnership Program (ENPP) to support servicemembers through the transition to a civilian career. We work with nonprofits that specialize in employment assistance to help veterans prepare for careers — including things like resume help, interview preparation, mentoring, and job search guidance.
