Empowering transitioning veterans through career support.

The High Point Veterans Initiative focuses on recruiting, engaging and supporting transitioning veterans and their families, and encouraging them to live, work and grow in High Point.

The High Point Veterans Initiative mission is to strategically serve transitioning veterans, professionally, personally and holistically, with the highest level of engagement. The program is a strategic partnership between Business High Point Chamber of Commerce, Visit High Point and Veterans Bridge Home (VBH), who coordinates the employment navigation, community engagement and veteran support services.

How we support transitioning veterans:

Open Arms

The High Point Veterans Initiative takes a holistic approach when welcoming service members, veterans and their families into High Point. We connect them not just to key resources, but to the heart of our community.

Through Veterans Bridge Home, service members connect with resources in each of the social determinants of health: Employment, Education, Housing, Healthcare, Benefits and Social Enrichment
In addition to facilitating these services, HPVI creates pathways for veterans and their families to experience the rhythm of our city, build relationships, and connect with like-minded neighbors who understand the journey into civilian life. From lively gathering places and local events to the networks of people who call High Point home, we help veterans find their place and feel like they belong here.

Open Access

HPVI will soon have a presence through hiring events, offering service members help with job placement in the High Point area. High Point employers also have access to job posts and current openings directly on the job posting site at Ft. Bragg to engage transitioning soldiers.

Veterans Bridge Home is one of the local organizations who partner with the US Department of Labor Employment Navigator and Partnership Program (ENPP) to support soldiers through the transition to a civilian career. The VBH staff provides one-on-one career assistance to service members, and their spouses through the following resources:

  • Teams at Fort Bragg and Fort Jackson assist with transition planning
  • Community resources for service members, veterans and their families’ career readiness
  • Community guidance for networking with employers in High Point

Open Opportunities

Through a collaboration with RecruitMilitary, the nation’s largest organization committed to providing employment opportunities for transitioning active-duty military, as well as the US Chamber of Commerce Hire Our Heroes program, HPVI connects local employers and veteran talent to opportunity within our community. We work directly with employers to help them attract, engage and retain talent through:

  • Military literacy
  • Job translation
  • Networking & volunteering
  • ERG support
  • Roundtable collaboration
